parish
magazine.
Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make our
summer gala such a success, and thank you to all who came to support
us. It was very encouraging to have so many attending in such
a friendly atmosphere. We were also greatly blessed by the
weather. The forecast had been gloomy all week when it came
to it, we prayed for good weather and it was dry all day. We
feel it was a real sign of God’s mercy and love, praise Him!
Once again we are waiting to see what will happen to the old church.
The latest plans should have gone to planning in July, but they have
been delayed again as yet more work is required of the developer.
We
are moving forward with plans for a new church in the
village. This would be built alongside the school we are
using now. Our architect has drawn up a first draft to show
what it may look like. These are available in church if
anyone would like to look. As it is a first draft we would
value peoples comments.
Any work on the school site would require us to have bought the site.
We are in discussion with the council at the moment to agree a
reasonable price. We would appreciate peoples’
prayers that this goes ahead smoothly. Once we have agreed a
price, then the challenge is for us to find the money. If you
think it is important to have a parish church in Stanley then this your
opportunity to do something that will really help. If you are
willing to be involved please let us know. When we know what
the council are asking for, we will be appealing for assistance and
support.
It can be very daunting to face a difficult possibility of perhaps
being homeless, but we do not stand alone. We trust in a
great God of power and love for his will to be done.
